Snakehouse

The project proposes a multi-generational living compound situated within a rich wetland site, accommodating diverse living needs through zones that operate both independently and as a cohesive whole. A series of volumes cascade across the lowlands, negotiating subtle changes in elevation while maintaining spatial continuity. The compound emerges gradually, following the terrain as it transitions between wet and dry, dense and open conditions, while circulation extends into the landscape through pedestrian and vehicular paths that blur access and experiences across the terrain. Lightly elevated, the structures frame views, capture breezes, and establish a rhythm between ground and horizon, with western faces opening toward expansive sunsets that register the passing of time. Living unfolds across a field of wild and cultivated conditions, where the landscape becomes an active participant in daily life.
